Arsenal open talks to sign Corinthians’ Breno Bidon
Arsenal have reportedly made contact to sign Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, as per a recent report.
After spending time with Portuguesa and Osasco Audax during his youth career, the 20-year-old joined O Coringão academy back in 2019. He made his first team debut a couple of years ago before establishing himself as a key starter in recent times.
The Brazilian has shown glimpses of his qualities at Neo Química Arena, helping his side win the Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Paulista last year.
Now, as per a recent report (via Sport Witness), having been impressed by Bidon’s recent eye-catching performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.
The Gunners have even held talks with the Brazilian side to learn about the details of finalising the operation. However, Arsenal aren’t the only club in this race, with Manchester United monitoring his development for some time.
Sporting CP are keen on the midfielder as well and have already launched a formal £13m proposal. Arsenal are willing to sign him for a similar fee, but Corinthians don’t want to let him leave for anything less than £26m, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
Bidon is a technically gifted left-footed box-to-box midfielder by trait, but is also comfortable in the defensive midfield position. Furthermore, he can provide cover in the No.10 role if needed.
Bidon to Arsenal
He can play threading passes between the lines, is efficient in dribbling past opposition defenders in tight areas, is quick and efficient in defensive contributions.
Arsenal signed a few Brazilian talents during Edu Gasper’s time as sporting director, but since his departure, they haven’t focused on the South American market in recent years. However, it appears they are looking to change that.
Arsenal currently have Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard as options to deploy in the deeper midfield positions. However, considering the Dane has struggled to find regular game time this season, signing a new midfielder as a potential replacement for him would be the right decision.
Bidon is a talented player and possesses high potential; therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services.
