Arsenal interested in signing Brentford’s Kevin Schade

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brentford forward Kevin Schade, as per Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old initially moved to Gtech Community Stadium on loan from Freiburg in January 2023 before the deal became permanent the following year.

At first, the forward took time to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality before showing glimpses of his qualities during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring 12 goals and registering three assists across all competitions.

Last season, he helped his side finish in the top half of the league, making 11 goal contributions in all competitions. Schade has even enjoyed a productive start this term, netting three times in five league matches.

Having been impressed by his performances, new Germany boss Jurgen Klopp has selected the forward in the national team for this September/October international matches.

Now, Sky Sports report that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Schade after monitoring his development closely.

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have also been keeping a close eye on his situation, but the Gunners and the Reds are showing the strongest interest in finalising the operation.

Schade to Arsenal

The report state that Brentford don’t want to part ways with Schade and have already started holding talks to tie him down to a fresh long-term contract, with his existing deal set to run until 2028.

Despite selling Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard this summer, Arsenal purchased only Christos Tzolis. So, Mikel Arteta currently has fewer left-wing options this season than he had last term.

The Spanish boss has used Eberechi Eze to support the Greek thus far this season. However, the former Crystal Palace star is more comfortable centrally.

Schade, valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt, is a left-winger by trait but can provide cover in the CF role if needed. He is quick, good in the air and works hard without possession. He is a Premier League-proven player and hasn’t reached his prime yet.

Therefore, the German would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services in January or next summer.
