Arsenal linked with an ambitious swoop for Erling Haaland

Arsenal have reportedly been linked with an ambitious swoop for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, as per TEAMtalk.

The 26-year-old came into the spotlight after displaying impressive performances for Red Bull Salzburg. Having been attracted to him, Borussia Dortmund decided to purchase him in 2020.

Although he didn’t win a Bundesliga title at Signal Iduna Park, Haaland showcased his goal-scoring prowess. Having been impressed by his performances, the Citizens bought him back in 2022.

He has enjoyed great success at the Etihad Stadium, winning two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and several other major cup competitions.

In 52 appearances across all competitions, the forward scored 38 goals and registered nine assists last term. This season, he has enjoyed a promising start, scoring seven goals in as many appearances in all tournaments.

Having proven his worth in club football, Haaland has showcased his goal-scoring prowess on the international stage with Norway. He has established himself as the highest scorer of Norway.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that following Manchester City being found guilty of 114 Premier League financial offences, speculation surrounding their stars’ futures has started emerging.

So, Haaland’s future is currently uncertain at the Etihad Stadium, although he continues to focus on displaying his best for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Haaland to Arsenal

Arsenal considered signing Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez this summer but ultimately failed to finalise either deal. Therefore, they are planning to reinforce the attack next year and have the financial muscle to sign Haaland if he becomes available.

However, the report state that Arsenal will have to overcome fierce competition to seal the deal as Real Madrid and Barcelona have also expressed their interest in him. The Norwegian is likely to move to Spain if he leaves Man City. On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain are also in this race.

Following Gabriel Jesus’ move to Barcelona, Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as striker options. However, Havertz has sustained an injury during international duty with Germany.

This means Mikel Arteta currently has Gyokeres as the only available CF. However, he has struggled to showcase his best in the Premier League. So, Arsenal could do with signing a new forward next year.
