Arsenal hold talks over a deal for Barcelona’s Dani Olmo

Arsenal have reportedly made contact over a deal for Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo, as per TEAMtalk.

Since moving to Camp Nou from RB Leipzig a couple of years ago, the 28-year-old has mainly featured as a rotational option. Still, he has enjoyed great success, winning two La Liga titles and a few domestic cup competitions.

Last campaign, the midfielder showcased his productivity, scoring eight goals and registering nine assists in 31 starts across all competitions.

After proving his worth in club football, Olmo has secured his place in the Spanish national team, helping his country win the World Cup this summer.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that following Fermin Lopez’s rise, Barcelona are prepared to sell Olmo to raise funds and upgrade other areas of the squad.

So, intermediaries have started exploring options to find a new suitable destination for Olmo, and Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign him in January.

Apart from the Gunners, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been given the opportunity to secure his services.

Moreover, the report state that Bayern Munich and Saudi Pro League sides have expressed their interest in signing him.

Olmo is valued at around £51m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2030. Therefore, the Blaugrana are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they opt to sell him.

The Spaniard is a creative midfielder by trait but is also efficient in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he previously provided cover on the flanks. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, and is efficient in finishing off his chances.

Arsenal currently have Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze and Max Dowman as options to deploy in the CAM role. However, Mikel Arteta has used Eze on the left flank to support Christos Tzolis this season.

On the other hand, Dowman is still very young and his game time needs to be managed carefully to help him reach his full potential. So, Arsenal could do with signing a new No.10.

Olmo is a top-class player and has proven his worth at the highest level. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
