Arsenal entered the international break following four consecutive victories in all competitions. Now, they will face off against AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium in a Premier League fixture today.
The Gunners are currently 3rd in the league with 17 points from seven games, sitting only one point behind the table topper Liverpool. So, Arsenal will be desperate to earn all three points from this encounter to continue the title march.
On the other hand, Bournemouth are 13th in the table with eight points from seven games. They have accumulated the same number of points as Manchester United and are just ahead of the Red Devils in goal difference.
Team news
Arsenal have a few minor injury doubts ahead of this fixture as Bukayo Saka picked up an issue during the international break with England but he should be fit enough to start.
Kai Havertz didn’t join the Germany squad to play the international games due to a knee problem and there is a question mark about his availability. Additionally, Gabriel Martinelli is in doubt ahead of this game having returned late in midweek from international duty with Brazil.
Martin Odegaard and Takehiro Tomiyasu aren’t in contention to feature owing to their respective problems, while Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko could all remain sidelined.
Predicted line-up
David Raya should keep hold of his place between the sticks for Arteta’s side and in front of the Spaniard, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes would be the centre-back partnership.
If White and Timber can’t feature then Thomas Partey could commence in the right-back position, while Riccardo Calafiori is expected to be on the opposite side. So, Jakub Kiwior will have to make do with a place on the bench.
In this scenario, Jorginho and Declan Rice could start in the engine room for Arsenal, pushing Mikel Merino into the advanced midfield role. Leandro Trossard could be deployed in the left flank if Martinelli can’t start with Saka likely to be on the right.
Gabriel Jesus may lead the line should Havertz is deemed not fit enough to commence. Therefore, Raheem Sterling will return to the bench after starting against Southampton last time out.
Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Bournemouth
Raya, Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Jorginho, Rice, Merino; Trossard, Jesus, Saka
