Bid made: Arsenal table offer as Emery eyes double swoop for £39m duo

By on July 2, 2019

It’s been a hectic day so I’m just catching up on some transfer news and it seems Arsenal are looking to sign Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez while Unai Emery is also eyeing Hull forward Jarrod Bowen, according to reports.

The boss desperately needs to add some width to his squad and with Crystal Palace demanding huge money for Wilfried Zaha, it appears Arsenal are now looking for cheaper alternatives.

Sport are citing a report from Defensa Central that claims Arsenal have tabled an opening offer worth £27m plus add-ons for Lucas Vazquez and Real Madrid are ready to cash-in on the winger this summer.

Vazquez has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at the Bernabeu since making his debut in 2015 and the Spanish publication says he doesn’t feature in Zinedine Zidane’s plans following the arrival of Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

The report claims Madrid want around £36m for the 28-year-old and while Arsenal’s offer would come close to that asking price if the add-on clauses were met, the La Liga giants are still hoping to generate a bidding war.

However, Defensa Central says Arsenal are the only club to make a formal offer so we should be well placed to land Vazquez if we can persuade him to swap Spain for north London.

The Spanish international is an out-and-out winger and despite not being a regular, he’s still managed to contribute 21 goals and 44 assists in his 183 appearances for Madrid, so he could be a shrewd signing if we can pull it off.

Another player that is on Arsenal’s radar is Jarrod Bowen with The Sun reporting that Emery is eyeing a £12m bid to sign the Hull City striker.

The newspaper says we’ve been tracking the 22-year-old since January and have been impressed by his performances after watching him score 22 times for the Tigers last campaign.

The Sun says Spurs are also interested but Arsenal are ready to steal a march on our north London rivals by submitting a formal £12m offer – although Hull are expected to hold out for around £15m.

Bowen is capable of playing up front or on the right wing so he’d be a versatile option in the final third if Arsenal could get a deal agreed, but obviously he’s not a high profile name like Zaha.

Emery is clearly working hard trying to strengthen the squad this summer and is eyeing a £39m double swoop for Bowen and Vazquez but we’ll have to wait and see if we can get any deals agreed over the coming weeks.
