[Photo] Arsenal injury scare as star shows off badly swollen ankle
Arsenal have been handed an injury scare after Alexis Sanchez showed off a badly swollen ankle following Chile’s Confederations Cup win over Cameroon yesterday.
Sanchez was considered as a major doubt for the game after spraining his ankle in training late last week but was named on the bench by manager Juan Antonio Pizzi.
The Chile boss insisted prior to the game that he would listen to his medical staff and wouldn’t risk Alexis if there was a chance he could aggravate the injury.
The Arsenal superstar was introduced from the bench with the scores still level at 0-0 on the 58th minute and had a huge impact on the game after setting up Arturo Vidal for the opener.
However, predictably Sanchez’s cameo appearance has come at a price as he was seen limping during the game and has now shared a video on Instagram of his badly swollen ankle after the game.
As always, the Chile national team have shown no care towards Sanchez’s well being and allow him to play when not fully fit. Sadly, reports suggest that Pizzi is expected to name Sanchez in his starting eleven against Germany on Thursday night.
Let’s pray Alexis manages to come through the game without further aggravating his ankle injury.
