Arsenal could make serious push to sign Leny Yoro
Arsenal could reportedly make a serious push to sign Manchester United defender Leny Yoro, as per Caught Offside.
The 20-year-old came into the spotlight having displayed impressive performances for LOSC Lille. Numerous clubs across Europe expressed their interest in him, but the Red Devils ultimately managed to win the race a couple of years ago.
However, the youngster has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League and has found himself on the periphery under Michael Carrick, failing to start a game in the league this season.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Man Utd have started exploring the possibility of purchasing Como star Jacobo Ramon. As a result, Yoro is concerned about his current role at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman’s potential suitors have started showing interest in signing him by taking advantage of his current situation, and Arsenal could make a serious push to seal the deal.
However, Paris Saint-Germain have the strongest interest in him, while Chelsea, Barcelona and AC Milan have held a long-standing interest in the defender.
Mikel Arteta likes having versatile defenders, and Yoro is a 6ft 3in tall right-footed centre-back but is also comfortable in the right-back role. He is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, and is efficient in defensive contributions.
Yoro to Arsenal
Following William Saliba’s back problem, Arsenal decided to reinforce the backline by purchasing Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa this summer. As a result, Arteta currently has the Englishman plus Cristhian Mosquera, Jurrien Timber and Ben White as right-sided defenders.
However, White has had numerous fitness problems in recent years and was linked with a move away in the summer window. On the other hand, Timber has also had a few injury issues since joining from Ajax Amsterdam.
Although Yoro has struggled to showcase his best at Old Trafford, he is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. Moreover, he still has plenty of time to develop.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to Old Trafford in January or next summer.
