Predicted Arsenal line-up against Tottenham Hotspur
Arsenal are set to resume action after the international break with a blockbuster Premier League clash against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners have allowed Manchester City to close the gap at the top of the table by dropping points against Sunderland last time out. Currently, they have only a four-point lead and can’t afford to drop any more points this weekend.
On the other hand, Tottenham have had an inconsistent start this season but have been the best away team in the English top flight thus far, accumulating 13 points from five games. They haven’t lost a game on the road yet.
Team news
Gabriel Jesus is edging closer towards returning after remaining sidelined since the start of this year due to a serious knee injury, but this game will come too early for him to feature.
Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli are all set to be unavailable in this game owing to their respective problems. Moreover, Gabriel Magalhaes picked up a groin issue during international duty with Brazil, and as a result, he is set to remain sidelined over the next few weeks.
Riccardo Calafiori was withdrawn early from international duty due to injury and may not be ready to feature in this weekend’s game.
Viktor Gyokeres is in doubt, but Martin Odegaard has recovered from his injury and is expected to be available in this high-voltage fixture.
Predicted line-up
David Raya is expected to continue between the sticks, so Kepa Arrizabalaga would be among the substitutes. In front of the Spaniard, William Saliba should be in the centre-back position, and Cristhian Mosquera might commence alongside the Frenchman amid Gabriel’s absence.
Jurrien Timber and Piero Hincapie are likely to be the two fullbacks. So, Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Martin Zubimendi could be paired up with Declan Rice in the engine room, with Eberechi Eze in the creative midfield role. So, Christian Norgaard and Ethan Nwaneri are expected to feature as substitutes if needed. Odegaard might also be on the bench.
Bukayo Saka would be on the right flank, and Leandro Trossard should commence on the left. Mikel Merino is set to continue leading the line for the hosts amid Gyokeres, Jesus and Havertz’s absence.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Tottenham
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Mosquera, Hincapie; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Saka, Merino, Trossard
