Arsenal make contact to sign Inter Milan’s Pio Esposito
Arsenal have reportedly made contact over a deal for Inter Milan forward Pio Esposito, as per Caught Offside.
The 21-year-old started his youth career at Brescia before joining the Nerazzurri’s academy at the age of nine. After rising through their youth system, he initially joined Spezia on loan for two seasons to play regularly and develop his career.
He showed glimpses of his high potential in Serie B during the 2024/25 campaign, making 20 goal contributions across all competitions. After being impressed by his performances, Cristian Chivu decided to keep him with the first team.
After making two goal contributions in as many matches in the Club World Cup last summer, he enjoyed a promising campaign last term, although he mainly featured as a rotational option.
In 22 starts across all competitions, he scored 10 goals and registered five assists. Moreover, he helped his side win the Serie A title and Coppa Italia. Having proven his worth in club football, the youngster has secured his place in the Italian squad.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal appreciate Esposito’s talent and potential, with Mikel Arteta’s side working hard to reinforce the frontline this summer.
The Gunners have even made contact to check about the player’s availability. Like them, Manchester United have also enquired about his current situation.
Esposito to Arsenal
However, the report state that Inter have no intention of letting him leave and are close to agreeing on a fresh long-term contract with him until 2031.
Arsenal are expected to keep a close eye on him and could make a move over the coming years if he continues to impress. Apart from the Italian, Arsenal are also interested in Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. However, purchasing either of them won’t be easy.
Esposito is a 6ft 2in tall right-footed old-fashioned striker. He is strong, good in the air, can hold up the play, is efficient in finishing off his chances, and works hard without possession.
The Inter star would have been a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal had they managed to secure his services. However, it is going to be interesting to see who the North London club eventually buy to upgrade the frontline.
