Arsenal make contact to sign Bradley Barcola

Arsenal have made contact with Bradley Barcola’s entourage over his potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium this summer, as per TEAMtalk.

Since moving to the Parc des Princes from Lyon in the summer of 2023, Barcola has played an important part in PSG’s last three trophy-laden years, during which they have won three consecutive Ligue 1 titles and successive UEFA Champions League crowns.

Last season, despite not being a regular starter, he still finished the campaign with 20 goal contributions, underlining the quality of his end product.

While the 23-year-old is still tied to PSG for another two years, reports indicate he is unwilling to extend his stay, leading to the possibility of a potential departure this summer.

His stock has risen further following an excellent individual showing at the World Cup, where he produced three goals and provided one assist for France on their run until the semi-finals of the tournament and also notably netted in the ten-goal third-place play-off thriller against England.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are assessing potential left wingers and have made contact with Barcola’s entourage over a potential move this summer.

The French winger is keen on departing PSG this summer and has been heavily linked with Liverpool, who are leading the race to sign him this summer, according to the report.

‘Crazy fast’ winger

However, TEAMtalk clarifies that despite holding club-to-club talks, no agreement has been reached with PSG, who are demanding £128m to sanction Barcola’s departure.

As a result, the report claims that Arsenal have now firmly entered the race for Barcola and are willing to make a significant investment in the transfer as they explore several left-wing options.

Described as ‘crazy fast’ by Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike, Barcola would be an instant upgrade to Arsenal’s left wing, which accounted for just ten Premier League goals last season.

Among Ligue 1 wingers last season, the 23-year-old ranked in the 93rd percentile, averaging 0.53 goals in every 90 minutes.

He also recorded 1.54 goal attempts per 90 minutes in the French league, placing him in the 92nd percentile among left wingers.

He would bring pace, flair and a constant attacking threat to Mikel Arteta’s attack, while his one-vs-one dribbling ability would prove a potent asset when facing low blocks.

However, with Liverpool already leading the race, it’ll be interesting to see whether Arsenal will match PSG’s £128m valuation to trump their rivals to sign Barcola this summer.
