Arsenal plot swoop to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s Kaua Elias

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk forward Kaua Elias, as per The Sun.

After joining the Ukrainian giants from Fluminense last year, the 20-year-old initially took time to settle into his new surroundings. Although he featured as a rotational option last term, he showed glimpses of his goal-scoring prowess, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in 18 starts across all competitions.

In the opening game of this Ukrainian Premier League season, Shakhtar faced Kudrivka at Arena Lviv on Monday night, and he guided his side to a 5-1 victory by scoring a perfect hat-trick.

Now, The Sun report that Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Elias’ development in recent weeks and they sent scouts to watch him in action closely on Monday.

After being impressed by his performances, Arsenal’s scouts have given the green light to elevate the internet, with Mikel Arteta looking to add depth to the frontline this summer.

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2029, Shakhtar don’t want to let him leave unless his potential suitors, such as Arsenal, trigger his £30m release clause.

However, the report state that Manchester United also monitored his performances against Kudrivka, with Michael Carrick’s side wanting a new striker as Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move to Serie A.

Elias to Arsenal

Although AC Milan and FC Porto are also interested in him, Man Utd and Arsenal have the financial muscle to seal the deal by triggering his exit clause.

After developing at Shakhtar in recent years, the Brazilian is even ready to leave this summer to take the next step in his career.

Elias is a technically gifted right-footed striker by trait. He likes to drop deep and link up the play, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and is efficient in finishing off his chances.

The youngster is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services during this offseason.
