Arsenal ‘keen’ on signing PSG star Lee Kang-in
Arsenal are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing Paris Saint-Germain star Lee Kang-in, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After ranking through Valencia’s youth system, the 24-year-old made his first team debut for Los Ches back in 2018. However, he never managed to secure his place in their starting eleven, so the South Korean decided to leave for free and join Mallorca to play regularly and develop his career.
Having been impressed by his performances at Estadi de Son Moix, PSG decided to hire him ahead of last season. However, Lee hasn’t been able to force his way into Luis Enrique’s starting eleven and has been featuring as a rotational option.
Therefore, Fichajes state that the versatile forward isn’t happy about his situation at Parc des Princes, and Arsenal are looking to hire him by taking advantage of this circumstance.
The Gunners have been keeping a close eye on Lee’s development over the years, and Mikel Arteta is open to securing his service to bolster the squad this summer.
The former Mallorca star is valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt and still has three years left in his current contract. So, Les Parisiens are likely to demand a sizable fee to let him leave.
Lee to Arsenal
Lee is a left-footed player who is comfortable playing on the right flank and in the CAM role. Furthermore, he is capable of providing cover in the box-to-box role in the midfield three.
The PSG star is technically gifted and can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas. Moreover, he can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, and also works hard without possession.
Arsenal were looking for a new right-winger previously to support Bukayo Saka, but following Ethan Nwaneri’s emergence, that isn’t the highest priority at the moment.
However, Arsenal could do with signing a new No.10 to provide cover for Martin Odegaard, as they don’t have any backup option for the Norwegian.
Lee is a talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to play in Arteta’s system. Therefore, he might be a useful acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him in the upcoming transfer window.
