Arsenal interested in signing Man City’s Erling Haaland
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, as per TEAMtalk.
After struggling with striker problems over the last few seasons, the Gunners attempted to address this issue by signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP last year.
The Swedish international showcased his goal-scoring prowess in Primeira Liga over the last two years but has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League. Still, he managed to help his side become English champions last term.
Apart from Gyokeres, Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz as the only striker option, as Gabriel Jesus joined Barcelona in the summer transfer window. However, the German has been struggling with fitness problems in recent years.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that the Emirates club attempted to bolster the No.9 position by purchasing Julian Alvarez this summer, but Atlético Madrid eventually managed to keep hold of him.
So, Arsenal have the funds available to seal an ambitious swoop like Haaland if he becomes available next year, with Mikel Arteta’s side interested in him.
After being found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations, Man City are in danger of facing a stern punishment. Therefore, several of their star players’ futures are currently uncertain.
Haaland to Arsenal
However, the report state that Real Madrid and Barcelona are currently the frontrunners to secure his services should he leave in January or next summer.
Since moving to the Etihad Stadium from Borussia Dortmund, the 26-year-old has showcased his goal-scoring prowess in the Premier League, helping his side win every possible major competition.
He, standing at 6ft 5in tall, is currently one of the best forwards in the world and would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. He is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in finishing off his chances, can take penalties, and works hard without possession.
Alongside showcasing his qualities in club football, he, valued at around £187m by Transfermarkt, has proven his worth on the international stage. He has established himself as the top scorer of the Norway national team.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his services by defeating the Spanish giants in this race.
