Arsenal can sign Victor Osimhen in winter window

Arsenal can reportedly sign Nigerian star Victor Osimhen in the winter window, as per recent reports.

It was widely reported that the Gunners were keen on signing a new striker in the recently concluded summer window. They were even linked with a host of options with Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen being among them.

However, the North London club eventually decided not to sign anyone and instead, they hired Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal on deadline day to strengthen the flanks.

Chelsea were keen on signing Osimhen and tried until the final hours of the window to convince him to join but a deal eventually fell through. The Nigerian’s relationship with Napoli has broken down so he had no chance to stay at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium and play regularly this season.

So, he has eventually opted to join Galatasaray on a loan deal. The striker has joined the Turkish club on two conditions as per Sky Sports Italy (via the Standard) with one of those being that he has now lowered his release clause from €130m[£109m] to €75m[£63m].

Osimhen to Arsenal

The other condition is that he has included a January break clause in the loan deal should a big European club come knocking on his door to secure his signature.

As per a Turkish report (via the Standard), 10 clubs can sign him in January with Arsenal being among those. But, Galatasaray won’t be able to sign him permanently during his long spell.

The report further claims that apart from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich can also purchase him in January, moreover, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain could also sign him in the winter window.

Having let Eddie Nketiah leave the club, signing a new striker to replace the 25-year-old could be a shrewd decision and Osimhen would be an excellent acquisition if they purchase him as he is considered one of the best strikers in the world at the moment.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to formalise their interest in signing him in the winter market.
