Done Deal: Arsenal confirm signing of Bosnian international
Arsenal have wrapped-up their first signing of the summer after confirming on Arsenal.com that Sead Kolasinac has joined the club on a free transfer from Schalke.
Kolasinac has been tipped to join Arsenal for several months after deciding to run down his contract at Schalke and we’ve been in talks with the player since the turn of the year.
The left-back is out-of-contract at the end of the month and the Express reported yesterday that an announcement over his free transfer move to Arsenal was imminent.
For once the newspapers got it right as Arsenal have now confirmed Kolasinac’s arrival with a statement on the clubs official website saying:
Sead Kolasinac will join us this summer on a long-term contract.
Subject to the completion of all regulatory processes, the defender will start pre-season training in July.
No details have been released about the value of his contract but the Express say Kolasinac has signed a deal worth £7.5m-a-season and as a free transfer I’m sure he’ll also get a sizeable signing-on bonus.
The Bosnian international is considered as one of the best full-backs in German football and we’ve beaten off competition from several top clubs to secure his signature so this is something of a coup for Arsenal.
Kolasinac is attack-minded so he should be the perfect fit in the left wing-back role and I think he’s going to prove to be a superb addition to the squad.
And if you’re wondering how to pronounce his name…..
