Agent: ‘No Arsenal Talks’ For £32m Attacker

Juan Quintero’s agent has dismissed reports suggesting the playmaker is set for a £16m move to Arsenal.

News broke late on Thursday night claiming that the 21-year-old was heading to London to wrap up a move after we had supposedly agreed a £16m deal with Porto.

However, the Colombian international’s agent, Ricardo Calleri, has moved quickly to play down such reports, insisting that there have been no talks with Arsenal and even if we did want to buy his client, we’d have to meet his buy-out clause.

When asked about rumours of a move to Arsenal, Calleri said:

“Porto have never talked about negotiating the sale of Juan Quintero.

“Of course, there are clubs interested. There is a lot of interest from clubs from Spain and England in the player.

“But in order for him to leave, a club has to pay his buy-out clause.” Calleri is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Quintero’s buy-out fee is believed to be set at £32m, and I personally don’t think Arsene Wenger would pay that for the player. He’s certainly a huge talent but when you consider we got Alexis Sanchez for a similar price, it would be a hugely inflated fee for Quintero in comparison.

The rumours last night came out of nowhere and were started by a few Portuguese journalists. They still maintain that the deal is on, despite his agents claims, so it’s difficult to know what to make of it all.

I’d be more than happy to see Quintero come to the club for around £16m, but only if it meant that Cazorla stayed. Speculation has suggested that should we sign the young Colombian then Santi is likely to be the one who makes way, which would be a huge shame.

Let’s see how things develop but we should know more over the next 48 hours as the reports in Portugal claim Quintero was heading to London this weekend ahead of completing a deal on Monday, so we don’t have long to wait until we find out how much truth is behind it all.
