Arsenal have made enquiries to understand the situation of exciting German international winger Lennart Karl at Bayern Munich, according to Christian Falk via CF Bayern Insider.

Karl, described as ‘special’, has emerged as one of Germany’s most exciting prospects over the past two seasons. He joined Bayern from Eintracht Frankfurt and came through the youth ranks.

He notably made rounds while with the U17, where he netted a sky-high 27 goals and provided 11 assists in just 18 games. He also repeated his goalscoring prowess with the U19S, netting seven goals in nine games.

Such a level of prolific form would undoubtedly attract attention, and it’s no surprise he was quickly brought into the first-team fold before making his debut in the 10–0 victory over Auckland City in the FIFA Club World Cup to become the club’s eighth youngest-ever goalscorer at 17 years, 03 months and 24 days.

He has since achieved numerous feats, including breaking Jamal Musiala’s record as Bayern’s youngest-ever UEFA Champions League goalscorer after netting in the 4-0 win over Club Brugge in November at 17 years and 8 months.

‘Special’ attacker

Despite his impressive statistics for the Bavarians, including 17 goal contributions last season, Karl recently came under heavy fire from Bayern chief Uli Hoeneß, who said the youngster was ‘far from being a superstar’ and needed to have a ‘serious talk’ with him.

The statement appears to have put several clubs on notice, with CF Bayern Insider reporting that Arsenal have been alerted by the situation.

The report adds that the North London club have made enquiries to understand the German international’s situation at the Allianz Arena.

Having extended his contract in February until 2029, Bayern have placed a £50.1m valuation on the attacking ace, which is within the reach of the Gunners according to the report, so it’ll be interesting to see whether Arsenal will take advantage of his situation by launching a swoop.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side are set to face stern competition in signing Karl, with the report adding that Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United have also been alerted by Karl’s situation with Bayern.

Arsenal could do with Karl’s qualities in Arteta’s attack. The 18-year-old’s ability to play on the right wing or in attacking midfield makes him even more suitable for the manager’s dynamic style of play.

That said, the Premier League champions already have Max Dowman, who can also play in various positions, and adding a player with a similar profile would limit his opportunities.
