Arsenal ‘most interested’ club in race to sign Ederson from Atalanta

By on April 29, 2026

Arsenal are the ‘most interested’ club in signing Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta next summer, according to Tuttojuve.

Mikel Arteta signed Martin Zubimendi and Christian Nørgaard to join an already defensive midfield unit that includes Declan Rice and Mikel Merino.

Since his move from Brentford last summer, Nørgaard has struggled for involvement, yet to make a single start in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Merino has spent recent months sidelined through injury, leaving Rice and Zubimendi to shoulder a heavy workload throughout the campaign.

With Nørgaard set to turn 33 next year and tied to a contract running until 2027, albeit with an option for an additional year.

With just 56 minutes of Premier League football and barely racking up to 500 minutes in any competition he has played, there’s growing belief the Gunners could consider offers for the Danish midfielder, as he’s not considered crucial to the first team.

As a result, Arsenal are exploring other midfielders, with Tuttojuve reporting that the Premier League leaders are one of the ‘most interested’ clubs in signing the 26-year-old.

The North Londoners are looking to reinforce their squad with a quality midfielder and view Ederson as the ‘ideal profile’ for that role due to his physicality and ability to play a box-to-box role, according to the report.

‘Ideal profile’

With the Gunners ready to launch a concrete move, Tuttojuve adds that negotiations over the Brazilian’s potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium are expected to proceed.

Arsenal will hope to use their financial strength to thrash out a deal swiftly, as the Italian outlet claims that Atalanta have placed a £38m-£43m valuation on Ederson, who is also of keen interest to Manchester United, Juventus and Atalanta.

Ederson has established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in Serie A since moving to Italy from Corinthians in 2022.

His first spell in European football with Salernitana was productive, which led to Atalanta swooping in for his signature in January 2022, just seven months later.

Since his arrival, the Brazilian international has made 177 appearances and has been a key part of the Bergamo-based outfit, playing a crucial role in their surge in recent years, including in the 2024 UEFA Europa League.

Ederson’s top-flight experience and, most importantly, his reliability would be invaluable assets for Arsenal, and £43m would be a shrewd piece of business from the Gunners.
