[Tweet] ‘sorry…’ – Arsenal star sends message to fans after shocking display vs BATE

By on February 15, 2019

Alexandre Lacazette has apologised to fans after being sent off during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to BATE Borisov in the Europa League last night.

Like many of his team mates, Lacazette had a night to forget in Belarus as he missed a great chance to open the scoring in the first half when he headed over the bar from close range.

The French international endured a frustrating game up front as he was starved of any decent service from midfield or out wide with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Alex Iwobi producing some disappointing deliveries.

Despite Arsenal dominating possession for long periods, we struggled to create many clear cut chances and BATE punished us by opening the scoring shortly before half time.

As we pushed to find a late equaliser in the second half, Lacazette let his frustration get the better of him as he lashed out with an elbow after being tugged back by a BATE player.

The Arsenal hitman was shown a straight red card, denting our hopes of scoring a late leveller in Belarus, while he’ll now miss the return leg at the Emirates Stadium next week.

Lacazette has now taken to social media to apologise to the supporters and say its not always easy to keep calm on the football pitch when things aren’t going your way.

However, despite letting the team down last night, Lacazette is confident his Arsenal team mates will be able to turn the tie around on home soil next Thursday.
