Photos: Koscielny ends up on Welbeck’s lap as Arsenal squad flies out to Madrid
The Arsenal squad have flown out to Spain this afternoon ahead of our crucial Europa League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid.
We head to the Wanda Metropolitano on Thursday night needing to produce a near-perfect performance to stand a chance of progressing to the final after blowing the first leg at the Emirates.
Arsenal were gifted the perfect opportunity to take control of the tie after Altetico were reduced to 10-men after just 10 minutes but we only managed to take one of our chances and Madrid snatched a late equaliser to take home a undeserved 1-1 draw.
It means we’ve got to become the first side in 12 attempts to score away to Madrid and hope that our leaky defence holds-up against the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa.
We were handed some positive news ahead of the game after Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sead Kolasinac, David Ospina and Alex Iwobi all took part in training earlier today.
The quartet all picked up knocks during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend but they’ve all recovered and travelled with the rest of the squad to Madrid this afternoon.
The boys looked in relaxed mood as they prepare for the biggest game of our season and perhaps Laurent Koscielny was a little too relaxed as he committed the cardinal sin of reclining his seat all the way back until he was practically on Danny Welbeck’s lap!
Come on Kos, that’s poor plane seat etiquette! Give your team mate some room to move or he’ll probably pull his hammy…..
Here are some snaps from the plane trip thanks to Arsenal’s Getty account:
