Arsenal star ruled out of Spurs game with ‘small’ injury
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled Laurent Koscielny out of tomorrow’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur due to a ‘small’ calf injury.
Koscielny missed Wednesday night’s hugely disappointing 2-1 defeat to Swansea City at the Emirates after picking up the calf problem.
Fans were fearing another one of our key men was set for an extended spell on the sidelines but thankfully Arsene has confirmed that Koscielny has a chance to return to action against Hull on Tuesday night.
However, if the defender sits out the FA Cup replay at the KC Stadium, then he is sure to make his return against West Bromwich Albion next weekend.
“Koscielny has a small injury but he is out for tomorrow. Maybe he will be back on Tuesday but certainly next week.” Wenger is quoted as saying by London24.
Obviously it’s a huge blow that Koscielny won’t be available for our crucial North London Derby against Tottenham tomorrow but I must admit it’s a relief that his injury isn’t serious.
The last thing we needed was Kos being ruled out for several weeks after Petr Cech became the latest injury victim, with Arsene ruling our number one out for up to a month with a calf injury.
Gabriel is set to start alongside Per Mertesacker against Spurs on Saturday. Let’s hope they can help us get a positive result as another defeat would all-but end our title challenge for another season.
