TEAM NEWS: Wenger Confirms Triple Injury Boost Ahead Of Spurs Clash
Arsene Wenger has been holding his pre-match press conference this morning ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Tottenham and gave the latest team news ahead of the game.
The boss revealed that Per Mertesacker is expected to be passed fit despite carrying a knock in midweek. The German will take part in full training today and Wenger believes he’ll be okay to take part against Spurs.
Obviously it would be a huge blow if Per was ruled out at the last minute, so let’s hope Arsene’s confidence is well placed.
Kieran Gibbs is also fit after missing the League Cup defeat to Southampton with a minor knock. Gibbsy will start at left-back with Nacho Monreal still ruled out with a back problem.
Arsene also confirmed that Mathieu Flamini is back in contention after missing the last two games with a dead leg, but I think we’ll see him start on the bench tomorrow.
Theo Walcott is still working his way back to fitness so he remains unavailable along with long-term injury victims Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud.
At Colney. Wenger: "Flamini is back in the squad. Gibbs is alright." #afc
