Arsenal battling with PL rivals to sign Inter’s Pio Esposito
Arsenal are reportedly battling with Premier League rivals over a deal to sign Inter Milan forward Pio Esposito, as per TEAMtalk.
The 20-year-old started his youth career at Brescia before joining the Nerazzurri’s academy at the age of nine. After coming through their youth system, he initially struggled to break into the first team.
So, the youngster joined Spezia on loan to play regularly and develop his career. He showcased his goal-scoring prowess in Serie B during the 2024/25 campaign, and after being impressed by his performances, Inter boss Cristian Chivu decided to keep him.
Esposito mainly played as a rotational option at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium last campaign. Still, he showed glimpses of his qualities, scoring 10 goals and registering five assists.
Moreover, the forward helped his side win the Scudetto and Coppa Italia. After proving his worth in club football, he has secured his place in the Italian national team.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal have registered their interest in Esposito after being attracted by his recent eye-catching performances. They have been monitoring his development closely over the last 12 months.
However, the Gunners will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are in this race as well.
Esposito to Arsenal
The Red Devils even sent scouts to watch him in action for Italy against Luxembourg and Greece. He even scored in both fixtures this month.
Despite growing interest in Esposito, Inter remain huge admirers of him, and they believe he can play a key role in the club’s future. So, they don’t want to let him leave this summer, with his existing deal set to run until 2030.
Esposito, standing at 6ft 3in tall, is an old-fashioned target man. The youngster is strong, good in the air, and efficient in finishing off his chances.
He is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a formal approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
