Arsenal are reportedly in a fierce battle with Premier League rivals to sign Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, as per TEAMtalk.

The rumour mill has continued to link the Turkish international with a move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window. It is also well known that players’ agents sometimes use reported interest from the Gunners as leverage to negotiate better deals for their clients at their current clubs.

So, sometimes it is hard to know whether the Gunners are actually interested in the player in question. TEAMtalk claim that although the 20-year-old has a contract until 2029 with the Bianconeri, they are ready to hand him a new deal with an increased wage.

Yildiz is currently one of the lowest-earning players at the Allianz Stadium but has established himself as a talismanic figure. So, the Old Lady of Turin are looking to give him a financial package, which will reflect the status he holds at the club.

However, the youngster wants a bumper new contract, and Juventus haven’t been able to find an agreement with him. Therefore, negotiations have stalled at the moment.

The report say that by taking advantage of this situation, Arsenal are looking to finalise the operation and have been keeping a close eye on him before making a potential swoop. However, Juventus aren’t in any rush to cash-in on him and want around £79m if they are forced to part ways.

Apart from the North London club, Liverpool and Chelsea are also in this race. The Blues hold a long-term interest in the 20-year-old as they attempted to secure his service last summer and even launched a formal £62m bid.

But the record Italian champions rejected the offer. Still, Chelsea haven’t given up hope of sealing the deal and are ready to make a formal approach if the player gives an indication that he is prepared to leave.

Yildiz is a right-footed left-winger by trait but is also efficient in the creative midfield role and is comfortable with his wrong foot. He has established himself as one of the best young players in Serie A and has made seven goal contributions across all competitions this season.

Although Arsenal already have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as options for the left flank, plus Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke can provide cover in this position if needed, they could do with upgrading the left wing next year.

So, Yildiz might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service.
