Confirmed line-ups: Newcastle vs Arsenal – Lewis-Skelly starts, Nwaneri on the bench
Arsenal will be looking to turn around a two-goal deficit when we take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park in the second leg of our Carabao Cup semi-final tonight.
After somehow losing the first leg 2-0 having missed a hat-full of chances, Arsenal have it all to do if we want to reach the final at Wembley. Mikel Arteta has gone with his full strength team in our last fixture before heading off to Dubai for a warm weather break.
David Raya starts between the sticks while Jurrien Timber lines-up at right-back once again. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes will be looking to keep Alexander Isak quiet while Myles Lewis-Skelly keeps his place at left-back after his sensational display at the weekend.
Thomas Partey keeps his place in midfield after a superb showing during the 5-1 win over Manchester City at the weekend. Declan Rice was also outstanding on Sunday and he starts tonight along with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.
Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are the wingers for Arsenal tonight and they support Kai Havertz – who’ll be leading the line up front once again.
Ethan Nwaneri is unlucky to be on the bench after scoring a stunner against City on Sunday.
These are the teams:
Arsenal
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Ødegaard; Martinelli, Trossard, Havertz.
Subs: Setford, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Calafiori, Tierney, Jorginho, Merino, Sterling, Nwaneri.
Newcastle
Dubravka, Trippier, Burn, Botman, Schar, Hall, Tonali, Guimaraes, Murphy, Gordon, Isak.
Subs: Pope, Livramento, Targett, Krafth, Longstaff, Willock, Miley, Wilson, Osula.
