Arsenal star Bukayo Saka urged to step up his game

Former striker turned pundit Troy Deeney has urged Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka to step up his game.

After coming through the Hale End academy, the 25-year-old made his first-team debut back in 2018. Initially, he featured as a rotational option before establishing himself as an undisputed starter.

The forward has showcased his productivity at the Emirates Stadium in recent years, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions last term.

Saka has won a Premier League title and a few domestic cup competitions with his boyhood club. He also guided his side to the Champions League final before losing to PSG on penalties last term.

Having proven his worth in club football, the Arsenal star has secured his place in England’s starting line-up. He helped his country finish third in the World Cup this summer.

Now, speaking on CBS Golazo, Deeney states (via Metro) that Arsenal have been excellent defensively, but they have room for improvement in attack, although they have won every match thus far this season.

Saka has the ability to produce more, while new summer signing Christos Tzolis can also step up his game. It seems Martin Odegaard has been the only attacker performing at his best.

Saka urged to step up

Deeney said:

“You feel like Saka can offer you more. You feel like Odegaard is probably the only one who’s raised his game. Tzolis on the left-hand side can offer you more.

“You just feel like there’s more within it, but they get the job done. They don’t really concede goals and they win and they know how to win. So, fair play to them.”

Saka has been playing regularly on the right flank in recent years but previously featured on the opposite side. He even provided cover in the left-back and LWB positions.

This season, Saka, valued at around £94m by Transfermarkt, has scored twice in five appearances across all competitions. He is a top-class player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.

Therefore, the North Londoners would be hoping that Saka would be able to help Arsenal defend their title this season and win the Champions League as well.

Meanwhile, following a comfortable 1-0 victory over Napoli in the opening Champions League fixture, Arsenal are set to face Sunderland in the Premier League this weekend.
