Arsenal make an offer to sign Ipswich Town star Liam Delap

By on May 7, 2025

Arsenal have reportedly ‘made an offer’ to sign Ipswich Town star Liam Delap, as per Football Transfers.

The Gunners initially decided to reinforce the frontline by signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City back in 2022. He started his life at the Emirates Stadium promisingly and was showing signs that he could become a big asset.

However, injury problems have hampered his progress completely, and he has been out injured over the last few months due to a serious knee issue.

Kai Havertz was purchased to support the Brazilian, but the 28-year-old’s continuous fitness problems helped the German become the first-choice striker.

He started his life slowly at the North London club last season but ended the campaign on a high, making 20 goal contributions in the league. However, he displayed an average performance this season before picking up a hamstring injury.

Delap to Arsenal

Therefore, it has widely been reported that Arsenal are looking to reinforce the frontline this summer. Football Transfers claim that Mikel Arteta is planning to revamp the No.9 position completely, and Viktor Gyokeres is the priority target for the first-choice role.

However, they also want a younger attacker to support the Swedish international and have identified Delap as a serious option. They have already ‘made an offer’ to the forward and are ready to match his demands to persuade him to join this summer.

Arsenal are in a strong position from a financial point of view, so they can afford to finance a deal for Gyokeres and sign Delap by triggering his £30m release clause.

However, the report say the Ipswich Town star is aware he is on the radar of several big clubs, so he doesn’t want to make his decision in a hurry and will make his mind up after the conclusion of the campaign, knowing which of his potential suitors can offer him European football.

Delap has displayed glimpses of his qualities in the English top flight this season, making 14 goal contributions. But, he couldn’t help the Tractor Boys survive relegation.

The 22-year-old is a talented player and would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they manage to secure his service along with Gyokeres.
