Arsenal now eyeing move for Dortmund star Maximilian Beier

Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Borussia Dortmund centre-forward Maximilian Beier, according to TEAMtalk.

Beier, valued at £34m by Transfermarkt, has established himself as one of the most exciting attacking prospects from Germany over the past three seasons.

After brief spells with German lower-division sides Brandenburger SC Süd and Energie Cottbus, he joined TSG Hoffenheim’s academy at 15, where he came through the ranks at every level.

After impressing in the academy, he was handed his Bundesliga debut in a 1-0 loss to Freiburg on February 8, 2020, before going on to feature in 46 first-team games, netting 18 goals.

He also had a two-season loan spell with Hannover, where he was called ‘exceptional’ by football scout Antonio Mango, after netting 15 goals before being sold to Dortmund permanently in the summer of 2024.

Since arriving at Signal Iduna Park, Beir has earned widespread praise for his goalscoring and creative ability. In his two campaigns with Dortmund, he has reached double figures for goal contributions, recording 10 goals and six assists in 2024/25, followed by 10 goals and 10 assists in 2025/26.

In the ongoing campaign, the German has been instrumental to Nico Kovac’s side’s 100% start to the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League campaign, providing four goal contributions, which has drawn the attention of several clubs, including Arsenal.

This is according to TEAMtalk, which claims that the Gunners are assessing several attacking options, with Bier now emerging among their targets.

‘Exceptional’ forward

Arsenal’s priority centre-forward target was Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, but convincing the former Manchester City man to return to the Premier League proved futile, as per the report.

As a result, TEAMtalk adds that scouts from the North London club have been working extensively on several alternative attacking targets and have now placed Beier firmly on their radar, having been impressed by his performances over the past year.

The Gunners’ title defence was dealt a major blow last weekend as they suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. Their lack of sufficient, quality attacking depth, particularly in the centre-forward and left wing positions, cost them dearly.

Going for Beir, who has reached double figures for goals in each of the last three seasons, would give Arteta a consistent source of potent attacking firepower capable of influencing games either from the start or off the bench.
