Arsenal register interest in signing Huijsen this summer
Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Dean Huijsen this summer, as per the Italian outlet AS Roma Live.
After joining Juventus back in 2021, the 18-year-old played a few games for the Bianconeri’s reserve team before moving out on loan to AS Roma last summer.
Upon moving to Stadio Olímpico, the Spaniard has showcased glimpses of his qualities in Serie A this season, scoring two goals in three league starts.
So, it seems after being impressed by the youngster’s recent displays, the Gunners have registered their interest in signing him to reinforce their backline.
According to the report by AS Roma Live, Juventus could be open to cashing-in on Huijsen this summer to raise funds amid their financial difficulties. The report further claims that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing him and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service during the off-season.
Huijsen to Arsenal
However, the report states that Manchester United and Newcastle United are also plotting a swoop him so the North London club are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the defender.
Huijsen – valued at around £9m by Transfermarkt – still has more than four years left in his current contract with Juventus. So, the Old Lady of Turin are likely to demand a sizable amount of money to let their talented youngster leave the club this summer.
The Spaniard, standing at 6ft 5in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, extremely comfortable in playing out from the back, has an eye for long-range passing, is comfortable on both feet and is also efficient in defensive contributions.
Huijsen is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class defender going forward. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal and the Spaniard would be an ideal option to play in Mikel Arteta’s system if they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club opt to make a concrete approach to purchase Huijsen if he eventually leaves Juventus in the upcoming transfer window.
