Arsenal register interest in signing Atalanta star Ederson

Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Atalanta star Ederson in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After joining La Dea from Salernitana during the summer of 2022, the 24-year-old took time to settle down in his new surroundings. But, he has been enjoying a stellar campaign this term, helping his side mount a top-four charge in Serie A.

So, it appears the Brazilian’s impressive performances for Atalanta haven’t gone unnoticed as he has started to attract a lot of attention ahead of the summer window with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.

According to the report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal are interested in signing a new midfielder and have identified Ederson as a serious option.

The report further claims that Atalanta don’t want to let their star man leave the club but they could demand a fee of around £34m if they are forced to cash-in. La Gazzetta dello Sport also states that Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners has also been linked with a move away from the club in recent times but La Dea don’t want to lose both of their star midfielders this summer. So, Arsenal will have to move quickly to secure Ederson’s signature.

However, the report says that Manchester United, Newcastle United and Liverpool are also keen on purchasing him and along with them, Juventus are plotting a swoop for him as well. So, the North London club are set to face fierce competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.

Ederson is a versatile midfielder as he can play multiple positions across the middle of the park. He is quick, strong, technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, is efficient in defensive contributions and also has the tendency of chipping-in with some important goals.

The South American is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class midfielder in future. So, he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it remains to be seen whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Ederson in the upcoming transfer window.
