Arsenal told to spend £60m to sign Wolves star Pedro Neto
Arsenal have been made aware that they will have to spend a fee of around £60m to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto, as per the Standard.
It has been suggested that the Gunners could look to sign a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka this summer. A few options have been mentioned as potential targets for Mikel Arteta’s side but Neto is reportedly their primary option.
The North London club hold a long-term interest in the Portuguese as they previously expressed their interest in signing him. However, Wolves refused to let their star man leave so a deal didn’t materialise.
But, it has been reported that although Arsenal failed to purchase Neto last time around, they could reignite their interest in acquiring his service during the off-season.
According to the report by The Standard, having raised around £100m from players’ sales last year, Wolves are currently in a positive financial situation. So, they won’t be in any rush to cash-in on Neto but if they are forced to sell the 23-year-old then Gary O’Neil’s side want a fee of at least £60m. So, Arsenal will have to spend a big fee to secure the forward’s signature.
Neto to Arsenal
However, the Standard states that apart from Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also keen on signing Neto this summer. So, Arteta’s side are set to face fierce competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.
Neto is a versatile player as he can play anywhere across the frontline. He is extremely quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the efficiency of creating opportunities for fellow attackers, can finish off his chances and also works hard without possession.
The Wolves star is a highly talented player and could become a world-class forward going forward if he can continue his development. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, Neto has struggled with several injury problems in recent times so the North London club will have to be careful about that before making a move for him.
