Arsenal eye move to sign Guadalajara’s Hugo Camberos
Arsenal are reportedly interested in CD Guadalajara forward Hugo Camberos, as per Mexican outlet TUDN.
After coming through the Chivas’ youth system, the 19-year-old made his first team debut last year. He has been mainly featuring as a rotational option, scoring twice in nine Liga MX appearances this year.
Now, TUDN report that Arsenal’s scouts were present to watch Camberos in action for Mexico against Guatemala in the U20 CONCACAF Championship fixture. He helped his side win the game 4-0 by putting his name on the scoresheet.
Apart from the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur also sent scouts to watch the youngster in action in this encounter. Overall, he has netted three goals in as many matches in the U20 CONCACAF Championship.
The youngster has entered the final two years of his current contract; therefore, Guadalajara might be open to cashing-in on him this year to make the most profit out of his departure.
He likes to be deployed on the right flank but can provide cover on the opposite side if needed. The right-footed forward is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and is efficient in delivering crosses from the flanks.
Although Arsenal won the Premier League title last term, they struggled to score goals from open play. As a result, they have prioritised revamping the frontline this summer.
Camberos to Arsenal
After letting Leandro Trossard join Besiktas, Arsenal have purchased Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. However, they want a new marquee left-winger and have been linked with a few names.
Moreover, Arsenal want a new striker as Gabriel Jesus has entered the final year of his current contract and Atlético Madrid star Julian Alvarez is reportedly a key target.
Camberos is a talented young player, but he doesn’t have any experience of European football yet. So, there is a question mark over whether he is ready enough to help Arsenal achieve their lofty ambitions immediately if he joins this summer.
Instead, Arsenal might be better off exploring other options to strengthen the attacking department. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
