Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is reportedly Arsenal’s top target to reinforce the frontline this summer, as per transfer expert David Ornstein.

Since moving to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in the world, helping his side win every possible major competition over the years.

The Brazilian showcased his productivity last campaign, scoring 22 goals and registering 10 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. Having proven his worth in club football, Vinicius has been Brazil’s talismanic figure in recent years.

Now, on The Athletic, Ornstein reports that Vinicius’ representatives and Real Madrid opened talks over a fresh term one and a half years ago. But they haven’t been able to find an agreement yet, with his existing deal set to run until 2027.

The financial differences between Madrid and Vinicius remain significant, with both parties set to hold talks next week to bring the matter to a head.

Arsenal are exploring the possibilities of purchasing him by taking advantage of his current situation, with the club’s owners ready to spend the necessary money to seal the deal.

Mikel Arteta loves him, so they have identified the South American as the top target to upgrade the left flank. The player is even ready to move to the Emirates Stadium if he eventually leaves this summer. So, agreeing on personal terms with him won’t be an issue for Arsenal.

Vinicius to Arsenal

Vinicius, valued at around £120m by Transfermarkt, is a left-winger by trait but can provide cover in the centre-forward position if needed.

Despite winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners are keen on upgrading the attacking department this summer as they struggled to score goals from open play.

Following Leandro Trossard’s departure, Arsenal have purchased Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. However, they want another winger as Gabriel Martinelli’s long-term future is currently uncertain.

He displayed inconsistent performances last term and has entered the final year of his current contract.

Vinicius is currently at the prime stage of his career and would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services before the start of next season.
