Confirmed line-ups: Southampton vs Arsenal – Saka & Martinelli start
Arsenal can cement their place at the top of the Premier League table with victory over Southampton at St Mary’s this afternoon.
The boss has recalled some of his big guns following Thursday night’s 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League. Aaron Ramsdale returns in goal with Matt Turner making way.
Ben White starts at right-back with Takehiro Tomiyasu moving to left-back meaning Kieran Tierney has to make-do with a place on the bench. William Saliba is recalled to start alongside Gabriel in the Arsenal defence so Rob Holding drops out.
Thomas Partey was rested against PSV but the Ghana international returns to the starting eleven today. Granit Xhaka was the match-winner on Thursday and he keeps his place once again.
Martin Odegaard is recalled so Fabio Vieira drops to the bench while Bukayo Saka is passed fit to start despite picking up a minor knock in midweek. Gabriel Martinelli returns to the starting eleven so Eddie Nketiah has to make do with a substitutes role.
Gabriel Jesus leads the line up front for Arsenal and the Brazilian international will be looking to get himself among the goals this afternoon.
