Arsenal ready to do business with West Ham for £10m midfielder
According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal are ready to sell Francis Coquelin for £10m this month with West Ham leading the race for his signature.
The Frenchman was left out of the squad for our 4-2 FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest yesterday and it looks like the reason was a move away from the club is in the offing.
Coquelin has been on the books at the Emirates Stadium for almost a decade having joined the clubs youth academy in 2008 and he’s gone on to make 160 appearances for the first team in all competitions.
However, the 26-year-old has struggled for regular game-time in Arsene Wenger’s side since the arrival of Granit Xhaka and it seems he’s now eyeing a move in search of first team football.
The Mirror claim Arsenal are ready to cash-in this month if an offer in the region of £10m is put on the table and West Ham have emerged as front-runners for Coquelin’s signature.
David Moyes is seemingly on the look out for a central midfielder and the newspaper says the Hammers boss is now eyeing Coquelin after failing to land Joe Allen or Jonjo Shelvey.
Like most fans, I’ve said for years that Coquelin wasn’t good enough for Arsenal and it seems Wenger has finally realised this for himself. £10m is decent money for him and he’d probably be a good fit at West Ham so let’s hope a deal can be agreed swiftly.
