Arsenal target £36m star as Wenger eyes two more signings
According to Football London, Arsene Wenger still wants to bring in two more signings before the window closes with Jean Michael-Seri and Thomas Lemar his prime targets.
The boss has signed just two players so far this summer with Sead Kolasinac arriving on a free transfer from Schalke while striker Alexandre Lacazette was signed in a club record deal from Lyon.
However, Wenger has confirmed he’s still active in the market and a central midfielder is a priority as we need to add some physicality and drive in the middle of the park.
Football London claim Seri is Wenger’s prime target and the boss believes he may be able to land the player for less than his £36m release clause if Nice get knocked out of the Champions League.
The French outfit are reluctant to lose Seri while they are still in the competition but they face a tough play-off against Napoli so Arsenal are ready to strike if they fail to progress to the group stages.
However, we’ll face some stiff competition as the report indicates that Barcelona are also keen on the Ivory Coast international so Wenger has lined-up William Carvalho or Steven N’Zonzi as potential alternatives.
Arsene is also looking to bring in another attacker and we’ve been strongly linked with a move for Thomas Lemar but so far Monaco have proven extremely difficult to deal with.
Football London say we have been confident about getting a deal agreed, despite Monaco rejecting three bids so far, as Lemar has made it clear he wants to join Arsenal this summer.
However, Monaco insist the 21-year-old won’t be sold as they are determined not to lose any more players with Kylian Mbappe the last of their title-winning squad that will be allowed to leave before the window closes.

This means Wenger is looking in to alternative targets and the report says Riyad Mahrez is a viable option as the Algerian international is desperate to make the move to north London having handed in a transfer request at Leicester.
If we could sign Seri and Lemar it would be superb business by Arsenal but I’d also be happy to see Mahrez or N’Zonzi arrive before the window slams shut. Let’s see what Wenger can bring us but it would be a huge disappointment if we don’t sign two players before the end of the month.
