Paul Merson offers his prediction ahead of Arsenal v West Brom
Paul Merson has offered his predicted score ahead of Arsenal’s crucial Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day.
We welcome the Baggies to the Emirates on Monday off the back of two hugely disappointing defeats at Everton and Manchester City so it’s vital we get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
Consecutive losses have seen us fall down to fourth in the table and we’re now nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea so there really is no room for error against West Brom on Boxing Day. We fail to win, and we can kiss the title goodbye for another year.
Tony Pulis’s men arrive in north London off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United but they sit eighth in the table and should have got a draw at Chelsea earlier in the month so this is going to be a tough game.
However, former Arsenal winger Paul Merson is backing the boys to bounce back and see-off the Baggies with a 3-1 win on Monday which would see us climb up to second ahead of Liverpool and Man City’s games against Stoke and Hull.
Merson told Sky Sports:
Arsenal v West Brom – Boxing Day, 3pm
Flat-track bullies Arsenal win these games, don’t they? West Brom have done well in recent weeks but they came unstuck against a very professional Manchester United side.
The Baggies could have got a result at Chelsea. They did well at Stamford Bridge and would have been well worth a draw. But I can’t go against Arsenal when they play these teams.
PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1
Let’s hope Merson is right as anything other than a win on Monday will be a disaster.
