Arsenal in talks over late deal for Russian international striker

By on September 1, 2015

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal are in talks with Dynamo Moscow about a potential deal to sign striker Aleksandr Kokorin.

Arsene Wenger is frantically trying to bring in another striker before the window slams shut at 6pm after missing out on prime target Karim Benzema.

There has been plenty of speculation suggesting we’re also in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Edinson Cvani but that appears highly unlikely to come off so it seems the boss is eyeing alternatives.

The latest name being touted in the media is Aleksandr Kokorin with the Telegraph reporting that we’re in talks with Dynamo Moscow about a potential last minute deal.

It’s understood we’re pushing for a year-long loan with the option to buy but with the 24-year-old now in the final year of his contract, Dynamo are insisting on a permanent deal this summer.

Kokorin isn’t the high profile name many fans were hoping we’d sign but he does at least have some pedigree having scored 47 goals in 196 games for Dynamo, while he’s also got 32 caps for Russia.

However, he’s not the top class forward I think we need to make us genuine title challengers and it looks like Arsene is simply trying to plug a gap at the last minute after missing out on his top targets.

Unless things change quickly, it looks like it’s going to be a disastrous transfer window for us which will see us only bring in one new addition. Is Petr Cech enough to make us Premier League winners? I doubt it, so let’s hope for some last minute action….
