Arsenal eye move for Barcelona’s Marc Casado
Arsenal are planning a move for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, according to a report from Fichajes.
The Gunners have started preparing for the new season, with manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta working on key reinforcements.
Arteta is said to be an admirer of Casado and believes the 21-year-old would suit his style of play.
Following Jorginho’s departure and Thomas Partey’s expected exit, Arsenal have focused on improving their midfield.
Deals for Christian Nørgaard and Martin Zubimendi are already close to completion.
Nørgaard is awaiting medicals, while Zubimendi is only waiting for an official announcement.
Now, Casado could be the third addition to Arteta’s midfield rebuild. Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £34 million offer to test Barcelona’s stance.
The Spanish club are open to selling players this summer to manage their wage bill and create room for new arrivals.
Casado has been named by Arteta as a key target due to his tactical discipline, positioning, and defensive qualities.
The plan at Arsenal is to finish midfield business before moving on to striker targets later in the window.
Casado Brings Energy, Balance and Flexibility
Casado plays mainly as a defensive midfielder but has also featured as a right-back and centre-back.
He is known for his high work rate and sharp tactical awareness, both of which help him win back possession.
The young Spaniard is strong in tackles, often breaks up play, and helps start counter-attacks with clean passes.
His calmness in tight spaces and ability to read the game make him a reliable option in front of the defence.
Arteta values Casado’s adaptability and views him as a player who can bring balance and energy to the team.
At just 21, Casado is seen as a long-term option who could grow under the guidance of Arteta and his staff.
The midfielder impressed with strong displays throughout the season before an injury in March halted his progress during what had been a standout campaign under Hansi Flick.
It is still unclear if he will remain at Barcelona or explore a new challenge, with Arsenal said to be watching the situation closely.
If Arsenal complete the deal, Casado would add depth to a midfield already strengthened by the arrivals of Zubimendi and Nørgaard.
