Crystal Palace vs Arsenal: match preview & betting tips
Arsenal will be looking to extend their winning streak to 12 matches in all competitions when we take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
Since losing his first two matches to Man City and Chelsea, Unai Emery has led Arsenal to an incredible 11 straight victories across three different competitions with the latest coming with a narrow 1-0 win at Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The players don’t have long to recover as we head to Palace for a 1.30pm kick off on Sunday looking to keep the pressure on leaders Man City with another win that would send us above Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of their trip to Tottenham on Monday.
Arsenal are currently joint third in the table – just two points adrift of City and Liverpool – so if the Merseysiders slip up against Cardiff on Saturday then we can climb to the summit the following day.
We’ll be up against a Palace side that sit 15th in the table after winning only 2 of their 9 matches so far this season but Emery won’t be taking anything for granted as they’re a dangerous side in front of their passionate fans.
Betting Odds
As you can see in this article, the home team is statistically more likely to win with 45% of Premier League games being won by the home side over the past five years. However, Arsenal are still the 3/4 favourites with the bookmakers to win the game on Sunday as we head in to the match in superb form.
Palace can be backed at odds of 7/2 while the draw is on offer at 16/5 but most fans will be betting on Arsenal to extend their winning run and I can see us coming away with a 2-1 victory from Selhurst Park which can be backed at 13/2. Over 50% of Arsenal games this season have seen both teams to score with an Arsenal win so I can see that trend continuing on Sunday.
We may suffer a slight hangover from our trip to Portugal so I’m not expecting a vintage performance but I still believe we’ll win the game and you can get incredible odds of 39/1 on Alexandre Lacazette scoring first in a 2-1 win. That has to be worth a few quid.
