Arsenal are set to travel to Fortuna Stadium to take on Czechia side Slavia Praha in the Champions League tonight.

The Gunners won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final last term. Moreover, they went all the way to the Carabao Cup final before losing to Manchester City.

This season, they have shown signs that they are capable of challenging on all fronts once again. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently the Premier League leaders with 24 points from nine games, while they have accumulated seven points from three games in Europe’s elite club competition.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be coming into this game off the back of a crucial 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the English top-flight.

Team news

Since sustaining a back injury with France during the World Cup last summer, William Saliba has been sidelined, but he has recovered and is ready to be involved in this game.

On the other hand, Max Dowman was suspended against Liverpool after picking up an unnecessary red card vs Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup last week. However, he is eligible to feature tonight. But Bukayo Saka is expected to remain sidelined due to his injury.

Predicted line-up

Slavia Praga isn’t the strongest team in the Champions League, accumulating just a solitary point from three matches. So, it is expected that Arteta might make a few changes to his starting line-up tonight to give the key players a breather amid this busy run of fixtures.

Still, David Raya is set to be in goal, while Saliba could return to the starting XI and start alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in the centre-back position. So, Ezri Konsa would have to make do with a place on the bench.

Ben White should be the right-back and Piero Hincapié could be on the opposite side. Therefore, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber would have to settle for a place on the bench.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is likely to be paired up with Martin Zubimendi in the double midfield pivot role for Arsenal, while Mikel Merino may start in the creative midfield position. In that case, Declan Rice, Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Odegaard would get a midweek break.

After recovering from his hamstring problem, Christos Tzolis started last weekend but Eberechi Eze might get the nod to commence on the left flank tonight. On the other hand, Dowman could be on the opposite side. Therefore, Noni Madueke may feature as a substitute if needed.

Although Kai Havertz scored the winner against Liverpool, he might start on the bench in this game, and Viktor Gyokeres should get the nod to lead the line for Arsenal.
