[Video] Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea: Lacazette scores late equaliser as Gunners win 6-5 on pens
Arsenal beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties after scoring with the last kick of the game to salvage a 1-1 during our International Champions Cup clash in Dublin this evening.
Chelsea were on top early on and opened the scoring in the 5th minute when Antonio Rudiger powered home a free header after Emile Smith Rowe failed to track his run from a corner.
The Blues then had the chance to double their lead when Hector Bellerin gave away a penalty but Petr Cech saved Alvaro Morata’s resulting spot kick to keep the score at 0-1.
Arsenal had their fair share of chances with Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette both going close in the second half but we couldn’t find a way through.
It looked like we were heading to defeat but Lacazette scored an equaliser with the last kick of the game as he turned home at the far post from a Reiss Nelson cross to make it 1-1.
It went to penalties and Lacazette, Nelson, Guendouzi, Maitland-Niles, Ozil all scored for Arsenal while Chelsea also netted each of their 5 penalties so it went to sudden death.
Cech saved from Loftus-Cheek and Iwobi converted to give Arsenal a 6-5 win on pens after drawing 1-1.
