Arsenal suffer huge injury blow, star to miss crucial games
According to the Mirror, Petr Cech has been ruled out for around four weeks meaning he’s set to miss a number of crucial games during our run-in.
Cech limped out of our 3-1 defeat to West Brom on Saturday after pulling up with a calf problem shortly after making a superb save to keep the score at 1-1 just before half time.
The 34-year-old was replaced by David Ospina and Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that Cech had suffered a calf injury but refused to put a timescale on his recovery until scan results came back.
The results are now in and unfortunately the bad news has been confirmed as the Mirror claim that Cech has now been ruled out for four weeks after the scans showed he’d strained his calf.
It means Cech is now set to miss our crucial showdown against Manchester City after the international break as well as the subsequent Premier League matches with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough.
He’s also facing a race against time to be fit for our FA Cup semi final with City at Wembley on April 23, so Cech could end up missing five crucial games that will determine our season.
The news is a huge blow as although Cech hasn’t been on his best form this season, he’s still a much better keeper than Ospina and we’re going to miss him during a pivotal part of the campaign.
Ospina was at fault for West Brom’s crucial second goal on Saturday and is always susceptible to making an error of two so I pray Cech makes a swift recovery.
