Attacker ‘flattered’ to be linked with Arsenal amid £25m bid reports

According to a report in the Mirror, Riyad Mahrez has refused to rule out leaving Leicester City and says he’s flattered to be linked with the likes of Arsenal.

Mahrez has just come off the back of a sensational season that saw him score 17 goals and provide 10 assists for Leicester to help fire them to an unlikely Premier League title.

The 25-year-old’s performances not only saw him named as the PFA Player of the Year but he’s also attracted plenty of interest in his services with Sky Sports Italia journalist Tancredi Palmeri claiming last week that Arsenal had tabled an opening £25m offer.

The Mirror report suggests that Manchester United and Barcelona are also showing a keen interest and the paper has now quoted Mahrez as saying that it’s ‘flattering’ to be linked with those types of clubs but insists that no deal has been agreed.

The Algerian international says he is yet to make a decision over his future but confirmed there is a chance he’ll leave Leicester this summer.

When asked about reported interest from Arsenal, United and Barca, Mahrez is quoted as saying:

“It is flattering to hear, as I said nothing is agreed, nothing is done,”

“We will see… For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave. We will see.”

Mahrez was outstanding last season and I’d love to see him come to Arsenal this summer but understandably it looks like we’ll face some stiff competition for his signature.

Let’s hope Arsene Wenger does his best to land the Leicester attacker and his arrival would probably see Theo Walcott leave the club as he’s already lost his first team place and Mahrez would knock him even further down the pecking order.
