Arsenal make ‘direct contacts’ to sign Morgan Rogers

By on June 4, 2026

Arsenal have reportedly made ‘direct contacts’ to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign, clubs all over Europe have already started exploring options to strengthen the squad this summer.

Despite winning the Premier League title, the Gunners are said to be planning to add further reinforcement to continue their momentum next campaign.

Now, on his YouTube channel, Romano states that Arsenal are considering adding a marquee left-winger and have identified Rogers as a serious option after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances.

The North London club have already made ‘direct contacts’ with the player’s representatives over this deal, but they aren’t the only club interested in the 23-year-old. On the other hand, Arsenal have also shortlisted several other left-wing options.

Aston Villa won the Europa League title this season and are set to play Champions League football next season. Moreover, they recently tied Rogers down to a fresh term until 2031.

However, Unai Emery’s side might be open to cashing-in on Rogers, valued at around £78m by Transfermarkt, this summer to raise funds and reinforce other areas of the squad.

Rogers to Arsenal

Rogers is a creative midfielder by trait, but is comfortable playing on the left flank. Furthermore, he can provide cover on the opposite side if needed.

He is quick, strong, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and is efficient in scoring spectacular goals from outside the box.

Moreover, he can create opportunities for fellow attackers, has an eye for long-range passing, and also works hard without possession. In 55 appearances across all competitions, the 23-year-old scored 14 goals and registered 11 assists this season.

Having proven his worth in the Premier League, Rogers has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team for this summer’s World Cup.

The Villa star is a top-class player and isn’t a finished article yet. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his service by defeating other clubs in this race.
