Arsenal now eyeing move for Dortmund star Daniel Svensson
Arenal have expressed interest in signing Borussia Dortmund left-back Daniel Svensson next summer, according to Ekrem Konur.
Svensson has grown into a vital figure after arriving at Signal Iduna Park on an initial loan from Danish side Nordsjælland in January 2025, before the move was made permanent last summer.
Under Niko Kovač this season, the 24-year-old has firmly claimed the left wing-back role ahead of Ramy Bensebaini, featuring in all of Dortmund’s 32 Bundesliga matches.
On the European stage, his involvement has also been notable, with seven appearances across Die Borussen’s 10 UEFA Champions League fixtures before their play-off round exit to Atalanta.
With 83.6% successful passes; 50% successful dribbles, and 138 defensive contributions, which include 82 recoveries, 73 clearances, 20 interceptions, 37 tackles, etc., the youngster has proven his effectiveness at both ends of the pitch.
Now, according to Konur, Scensson’s displays have attracted the attention of several clubs in the Premier League and Serie A.
Among the clubs impressed by the Swede is Arsenal, according to Konur, who adds that the Premier League table leaders have expressed interest in signing the exciting left-back next summer.
Natural left-back
However, the Gunners are set to face a stern battle for his signature, as Liverpool, Atalanta and Inter Milan are also interested in Svensson, according to the journalist.
Amid interest from other clubs, Konur reveals that the 24-year-old ‘dreams’ of a Premier League switch, with Dortmund inserting a £34-38m valuation on him amid interest from Arsenal.
At present, Mikel Arteta can call upon Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Piero Hincapié and even the versatile Jurrien Timber as left-back options.
Although Hincapié joined on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, expectations are high that the agreement will be made permanent once the season concludes, leaving the Gunners well-stocked in that area.
Even so, uncertainty surrounding Lewis-Skelly’s long-term future at the Emirates could open the door for another addition when the summer window arrives.
It is also worth noting that both Hincapié and Calafiori are naturally centre-backs, which makes it unsurprising that Arteta is looking to recruit a more specialised option on the left, with Svensson now emerging as a suitable candidate for that position.
