Arsenal learn price tag of midfield target Gabri Veiga

Arsenal have been told to pay £34m[€40m] to sign midfield target and Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga this summer, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a promising season this term, scoring nine goals and registering four assists in 35 La Liga appearances.

After impressing for Celta this term, the youngster has attracted the attention of several big European clubs with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.

It has previously been suggested that the Gunners’ interest has excited Veiga the most as he ‘dreams’ of playing under Mikel Arteta. So, it appears the North London club are well-placed to lure him to the Emirates Stadium if they opt to formalise their interest this summer.

Writing on Twitter, Romano has reported that Celta don’t want to let their star man leave unless his potential suitors such as Arsenal decide to trigger the midfielder’s £34m[€40m] release clause. So, Arteta’s side could manage to secure the Spaniard’s signature for a reasonable fee should they decide to make a concrete approach.

Veiga to Arsenal

However, the journalist claims that Arsenal haven’t opened any formal talks with the Spanish side yet to sign Veiga but the midfielder is likely to leave Celta and join a Premier League club this summer. So, the Emirates Stadium could end up being his next potential destination.

Romano wrote:

“Understand the release clause for Gabri Veiga is €40m. The only way to sign the player from Celta Vigo, at the moment. No club has triggered clause or agreed terms with Veiga yet. It’s still open. Feeling remains on Premier League as most likely destination.”

Veiga is a centre-midfielder by traits but can also be deployed in the number ten role. He is technically sound, can create chances for the attackers, has an eye for scoring goals from distance and also can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas.

The Spaniard is an extremely talented player and possesses high potential. So, he could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they decide to purchase him this summer.

However, It has been suggested that Arsenal have earmarked Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo as the primary targets to strengthen their engine room. So perhaps, the North London club are lining up Veiga as an alternative option if they fail to purchase key targets this summer.
