Raphinha

Arsenal are reportedly ready to go all out to sign Barcelona forward Raphinha, as per the Spanish outlet Sport.

The Gunners were interested in signing the Brazilian and tried to broker a deal for him last summer. However, the former Leeds United man opted to join the Catalan giants instead.

The move hasn’t panned out for the 26-year-old as he has struggled to find his feet in La Liga and has fallen out of favour at Camp Nou in recent times. This situation has made the winger’s future uncertain at Barcelona and Mikel Arteta’s side are seemingly looking to take advantage of that.

According to the report by Sport, Arsenal are still interested in signing Raphinha and they want to purchase him ‘at all costs’. The Gunners have already made contact with the player’s entourage in order to persuade the forward to join the club this January. However, signing Raphinha this month could be difficult as the player is eager to stay put in Barcelona and wants to fight for his place.

The report says that if the Premier League leaders fail to sign him this winter then they are ready to wait until the summer to acquire the 26-year-old’s signature. Barcelona believe Raphinha – valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt – is a highly talented player so, having spent big to sign him last summer, they will not let the player leave for cheap.

Raphinha to Arsenal

It has widely been touted that Arsenal want to bolster the forward department this month – in order to continue their title charge throughout the rest of this season – and could look to purchase two attackers before the window slams shut.

Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk were thought to be their primary targets. However, having lost out both of them to Chelsea, the Gunners have now shifted their focus to alternative options and are on the verge of purchasing Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard.

After securing a deal for the Belgian, Arsenal could opt to make a move for Raphinha this month. And it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will manage to lure Raphinha to the Emirates Stadium before the window slams shut.

Signing both Raphinha and Trossard would certainly add depth to the forward line which will help Arteta to rotate the squad and keep his options fresh during the second half of this campaign.
