Arsenal fitness boost as Smith Rowe returns to training
Arsenal have been handed a fitness boost as Emile Smith Rowe has been pictured back in full first team training today.
The attacking midfielder was forced to miss Arsenal’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Wolves last Thursday night after falling ill in the days leading up to the match.
However, Smith Rowe looks to have made a swift recovery as he has been pictured taking part in training with the rest of the first team squad at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The news will come as a big boost to Mikel Arteta as the 21-year-old has been a key player for Arsenal this season. Despite being named on the bench in recent weeks, Smith Rowe has still managed to contribute 10 goals in his 25 appearances.
The England ace should now be back in contention for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon.
However, it remains to be seen whether Takehiro Tomiyasu will be involved this coming weekend. The Japan international has only recently returned from a calf injury and was an unused substitute during the win over Brentford on February 19th.
But the right-back missed the win over Wolves last week after suffering an injury to the other calf and he wasn’t spotted in training today, so Tomi remains a doubt to face Watford on Sunday.
Otherwise, Arteta has a fully fit squad to choose from as we make the short trip to Vicarage Road looking to close in on the top four. We currently sit two points off fourth-placed Man Utd with three games in hand so a win over Watford would put Arsenal in pole position for that final Champions League place.
